Magnum

Analysis of load-bearing structural members from cold-formed profiles according to the codes

Magnum enables to perform structural analysis and various checks of load-bearing steel structural members from cold-formed profiles for compliance with requirements of SP 260.1325800 and EN 1993.

The analysis can be performed for load-bearing bar members with the section type and sizes specified by the user. If the user has selected a section of a load-bearing member from an assortment of cold-formed profiles, the application also enables to find a profile from the assortment.

Capabilities

Design modes are used to perform all checks of load-bearing members from cold-formed profiles for compliance with strength, stability, and deformability requirements of design codes:

Resistance of Sections – solid, compound, and lattice sections from cold-formed profiles under various combinations of internal forces (including bimoments and constrained torques);

Trusses – hinged bar roof structures commonly used in self-framing metal buildings using compound or lattice sections from U-, С- and Σ-shaped cold-formed profiles, as well as hat channels and compound sections from double cold-formed angles;

Beams – single-span beams with compound and lattice sections from U-, С- and Σ-shaped cold-formed profiles and different boundary conditions;

Continuous Beams – multi-span beam structures with compound and lattice sections from U-, С- and Σ-shaped cold-formed profiles;

Continuous Purlins – multi-span beams from С- and Z- shaped cold-formed profiles serving as roof purlins (including members of horizontal wind trusses);

Columns – columns with compound and lattice sections from U-, С- and Σ-shaped cold-formed profiles.

Reference and auxiliary modes:

Steel – provides data on the characteristic and design strength of steels used for the load-bearing members from cold-formed profiles;

Assortment of Rolled Profiles – enables to browse through assortments of cold-formed profiles;

Service Factors – is used to browse and select values of service factors for structures and load-bearing members from cold-formed profiles;

Deflection Limits – provides the deflection limit values from the codes;

Envelopes – enables to determine unfavorable combinations of multiple loads acting on bending members, and to plot the М and Q envelope diagrams;

Influence Lines – enables to plot influence lines for continuous beams;

Geometric Properties – enables to calculate the geometric properties of cross-sections from cold-formed profiles;

Effective Lengths – enables to calculate the effective lengths of the bar structural members depending on their boundary conditions.

Documenting the results

The results of the calculations can be output in an illustrated report, which is generated automatically and loaded into a Windows application associated with the RTF format (for example, Word).
